The Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network (PLAN) honored ten recipients of the 2012 Excellence Awards at its annual awards banquet on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the Harrisburg Hilton. The Honorable John E. Jones III, United States District Judge of the Middle District of Pennsylvania was the featured speaker at the event.

The awards recognize legal aid professionals and friends of civil legal aid who support the clients served by the civil legal programs that comprise the Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network. PLAN solicited nominations from across the Commonwealth and based its selection on a variety of criteria that demonstrated excellence and diligence in helping improve the availability and quality of civil legal services for low income people and victims of domestic violence in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network, Inc. is soliciting nominations for its 2011 Excellence Awards. This year, the awards dinner will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at the Harrisburg Hilton & Towers. A social hour will take place from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, immediately followed by a buffet dinner (please mark your calendar).

The Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network Excellence Awards honor members and friends of the legal aid community who exemplify excellence in their commitment and accomplishments as advocates for low-income people. A media presentation highlighting the accomplishments of each award recipient will be incorporated into the program. You are encouraged to submit nominations of worthy candidates.

Pennsylvania Supreme Court Chief Justice Ronald D. Castille will address members and friends of statewide legal aid community.

The Philadelphia Bar Association, along with co-winner North Carolina Bar Association, will each receive a 2009 Harrison Tweed Award for achievement in preserving and increasing access to legal services for the poor. The award winning activities of each of these bar associations demonstrate the wide range of activities that bars engage in to promote access to justice.
