The Dauphin County Bar Foundation, with support from Metro Bank and other businesses, foundations and individuals, has announced that its “We Care About Children” campaign, which is coming to a close, is funding a custody attorney at MidPenn Legal Services in Harrisburg.

As a lead supporter of the campaign, Metro Bank is donating $25,000 over five years.

Shana Walter, the custody attorney hired through the campaign, will work to bring orderly resolution to about 100 custody matters per year during her five-year tenure. Walter will handle family law cases exclusively to help meet the area of greatest demand at MidPenn Legal Services.

“Not only is it important for children see both parents on a regular basis, but to also see their parents working together to make visitations a priority,” said Walter. “As custody attorney, I will strive to bring resolution to divided families and ensure the well-being of both children and parents.”

Metro Bank Chairman, President and CEO Gary Nalbandian said, “Metro Bank is proud to be a leading donor of this Dauphin County Bar Foundation effort. Stable families make for stable communities. As a community bank, Metro understands the importance of supporting this cause.”

Walter, previously a staff attorney for MidPenn, began her new position in December. She is a graduate of Widener Law School.

Incorporated in 1945, the Dauphin County Bar Foundation is the charitable arm of the Dauphin County Bar Association. The Bar Foundation helps to serve the needs of the Dauphin County community through initiatives such as the “We Care About Children” campaign.
